Neon "Boneyard" tour photos

Hello All...

Mike Skelton was nice enough to arrange a tour of the Neon "Boneyard" downtown on Friday. (or was it Saturday??? The whole convention actually seems like one very long day!) Lots of great old signs there and the photos I took don't do any of them justice.

Some of the signs were really falling apart, but some of the others were in pretty good shape. A few things struck me looking at them. One was the scale. These signs were huge, and it made taking the photos difficult because you couldn't back up far enough to get some of them in the frame. The other thing is that they must have really been something lit up! All of them covered in bulbs and hand blown neon tubes. Not too many around like these old relics.

I put up a chincy site were you can veiw a few of the better photos I took.

Thanks to Nate Pincus and Wayne Thompson for the ride downtown from the Trop!
