I'm with you Bob.
To judge a man's worth based upon the usage of a slang term in a single BB post isn't political correctness, it is hypersensitivity. To suggest that an organization that has this person as a member in good standing could be a viable reason for not belonging to that organization is extremely unreasonable.
Until this weekend, I had never heard or read the slang term, and honestly had no idea what it meant. ...and quite frankly, I'm still trying to figure out why it is offensive. More web searches including slang dictionaries have a net result in finding out that a guinea is a monetary exchange unit, a country, a flower (when orchid follows the word), a rodent (when pig follows the word) and several other things.
Most offensive slang terms have one primary meaning, they are words that, for the most part, don't have other meanings. Given that I make about half of my personal income using the written word, word meanings are crucial to me. In this case, it appears that a regionally accepted slang term for an article of clothing was used without any intended malice. I think I know Archie well enough to say with a great degree of certainty that he meant no offense to anyone.
When are you gonna quit killing yourself by working too hard and take the time to make it to one of our conventions?
Take good care my friend,
Bob
