in Lisbon still exists the TURF CLUB (just like that). as I said before in the 19 century in all the euopean countries were established clubs as like english clubs, also the names- in Portugal we say CLUBE (with an E ) but they use CLUB like in English.
In the scan we can see a 1904 receipt of the contribution of a menber of the TURF CLUB in Lisbon. The menber was the Count of Obidos
