That advice could cause some problems. I won't accept a local check at my business if the check only has a PO box and the person presenting it won't give me a street address that matches the address on their drivers license. It isn't because I'm nosy, it's because the District Attorney's Office won't take action on a bad check that only has a PO Box for an address without a DL verified street address written in.
