They are probably removable if you really want them out, Charles. Find a solvent that will dissolve the plastic. Probably acetone, toluene, or a similar organic. Cut most of the solid plastic away without touching the token, and dissolve away. Wash the token well when you're finished.

I'd leave it as is though if it were mine.
