You can, but you don't want to.

You're far better off making a Come bet, then taking the odds when your point's established, than you are making place or buy bets. And you certainly don't want to make a Pass Line bet after a point's been established.

Why? Because on the come-out roll (before the point's been established) the 7 (the most frequently-rolled number) is working FOR you, as it is when you make a Come bet. That is, you WIN with the 7.

After the point's been established, however, the 7 is a loser.
