To answer your question, I did not nominate items in specialties I do not collect. When the ballot arrived I would then vote in (most) all catagories. I guess I never gave it enough thought because I was merely voting on an item for its visual appeal and design.

I also think that the OTY website is a good reference. It's amazing how far the club has come since I joined in 1999. All due to the volunteers of this hobby...
