I have stayed away from the California area for the most part except where it was obvious that the chips were from illegal clubs. These include the offshore ships (i.e SS Rex, Tango) and a few other clubs like the Cove and Clover Clubs.

But when was gambling illegal in California? With all the card rooms going back so long, I just have no idea what, if any, were "illegal" in nature.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
