Really I must have missed the meeting where we voted on that.

I happen to agree that today in our society there is focus on trying to blame industry for every bad thing that happens and absoving the individual of responsibility for there own actions.

This is not the fault of lawyers, this the fault of society, lawyers are part of our society and they act accordingly. As long as our society continues to support this attitude towards personal responsibility you will see more and more laws and decisions supporting this kind of liability.

What I find curious though is that many of the same people who object to suits like this one or the suit against McDonalds didn't object to the suits against the Tobacco industry or the handgun industry, and they don't object to laws such as smoking bans in restaurants and other private businesses even though the underlying principle is that individuals can't think for themselves.
