This is being tried for the first time at Ocean's 11.
The concept is this....a tournament where you pay (your tournament buy-in gradually, during the tournament, instead of paying the whole buy-in in advance. Here's how it works. You register for the tournament by paying an entry fee ($20.00) and get your seat assignment. You take your seat and the tournament begins. Each player starts with $1,000 in chips. The limits go up every 30 minutes. At the end of the 30 minute time limit, if you still have chips, you pay $20.00 of your buy-in to the dealer. All of the buy-ins are collected and added to the prize pool. If you lose all your chips before the next limit change, you are out of the tournament and no further buy-in is required from you. Only players remaining in the tournament at each limit change are required to pay the next $20.00 buy-in. Collection of the $20.00 buy-ins' continue for 9 limits ($180.00 maximum) or until you make it to the final two tables. Great concept.
On a personal note, once again I must extend my congratulations to Gill Lovell and Bill O'Day who came in 1st and 2nd respectively at the no-limit hold-em tournament this past Wednesday held at Cache Creek. They both played brilliantly--damn it.
