I remeber making a scooter out of the two halves of a roller skate a piece of 2 X 4 and a wodden milk box.

All soda's came in bottles and we used to go looking for empties to get back the 2 cent deposit.

I remember Ebbets Field and the Polo Grounds home of the Brooklyn Dodgers and The New York Giants.

Going to the movies was an all day affair between The Cartoons, The Serial installment, The double feature, The Newsreel and the coming attractions all for the price of a quarter.

The subway was 10 cents, the paper was 3 cents and a post card cost 2 cents.

I remember the kids praying for snow so they could earn a few bucks shoveling out cars that were plowed in.

I remember a Dad that worked and a mom that stayed home.

I remember playing stick ball in the street and never having to worry about losing your house key, you didn't need to lock your door.

I remeber someone paying $100 a month rent and thinking they were rich.

Most of all, I'm glad I still remember, PERIOD.
You know what is really sad? The youth of today missed out on all this and will look back on days like today and call it the good old days.
