Jim; It is my understanding that the "hook" CHIPCO was promoting to the casinos in an effort to sell this product was that these laminated coverings could be removed and new design covers could be replaced over the recylcled base metal of the tokens ... at a much cheaper cost than purchasing completly new tokens. I don't know how much a savings it amounted to ... considering all the tokens in use would have to be recalled while new designs were being replaced ... so in effect, the casino would have to have a back-up set in place while the original design was being re-fabricated.
