When the Dunes was demolished, many of the workmen chipped out chips they found buried in the concrete, Pete. There were also many chunks of cement saved with chips sticking out. These have come to be called 'chips from the dig' by collectors over the years. You can usually recognize them by the cement still in the recesses of the mold devices and by the edge chips where they were pried out. There is often discoloration or lifting of the inlay as well.
There have been other casino's chips salvaged this way, including Sahara Tahoe/Reno. Most of the Sahara chips were buried in drums though and were resurected pretty much intact except for some change in color.
