Wow, you are good!
My understanding is that this was the first MVP trophy awarded by the sports writers.
Lefty donated it to Valley High School.
When Valley High was consolidated with Bruce High the consolidated school was renamed Westmar High. Since Valley High no longer existed, on a technicality, the town claimed ownership. The trophy was placed in the local bank vault. The good folks in Lonacaoning started raising money for a library. The story I heard was that the Baseball HOF offered to build the library and furnish it IF only the town would donate the trophy to the Hall of Fame. No dice.
It is a shame that relatively few people will ever see this piece of baseball history and that Lefty, with such an impressive record, languishes in obscurity.
I THINK that the man in the suit is Connie Mack.
