How about making up a real sounding name, instead of stealing one?

Long ago, in a time before the public Internet, there was Fidonet. People assumed my name was made up, so I created another "real sounding" name, and everything was fine.

On many services you will get scrutinized for being Mary Smith, John Doe, George Bush or Bill Clinton (even if that happens to be your real name) but if you are so inclined to be anonymous, you could just make up you own nom de plume and be free of all this debate.

One might ask, how do you know I am me, or anyone here is who they say they are? See my point?
