The brass cores appear to be the first-stage as-cast brass. If so, they will not have been machined as those that have been made into chips have been. If you dissolve the plastic from a finished chip, you get a different piece of brass.

I have an unmolded 2.50 brass core of the same type in my collecton. I would be interested in these items if they are for sale.
