I shan't gamble in Illinois, but will continue to fly over it on my way to Las Vegas.
I once read (and I hope someone can say that I'm misinformed) that Nevada has an "alien" tax. The magazine was a weekly similar to What's On (but it definitely wasn't that particular publication). If one is a non-Nevada resident and hits a jackpot of major consequence, 25% comes off the top as the alien (or non-resident) tax. I do know of someone who won a Mustang at Bally's and her net from the casino was minus 25%. She also had to pay the federal taxes, etc. from what was left. I wish someone would confirm or deny this.
