... going to talk politics!!
There are certainly differences between individual democrats and individual republicans. My view on the subject would actually be more accurately stated as, "There is no significant difference between the democratic party and the republican party."
On any issue of significance, the fundamental party line for both is that government should be (more and more) running things and that you should be paying for the privilege of having them do so. Their only real disagreement is over which party ought to be in charge and therefore capable of spreading largess (your money) as it pleases.
Otherwise, their disagreements, such as they are, are largely window dressing. If you doubt that, check out the voting records -- most legislation is passed with bipartisan support. And the vast majority of that is introduced at the behest of and passed on behalf of one special interest group or another, usually to the accompaniment of generous campaign donations to members of both parties. Ideological differences, to the extent that there are any between the parties, rarely determine legislative results.
I personally think we ought to have a law (which would obviously have to be passed by popular initiative, as our elected officials would never do so) which says that before any legislative or regulatory body can create a new law, it has to repeal an existing law of equal or greater length! ----- jim o\-S
