Will asked:
Can I ask... are you asking because you're wanting reassurance you made a right decision at one time, or because you're trying to decide how to set up your own auctions to get best response, or for some other reason?
Probably a little of many reasons (except for the "wanting reassurance" part - when that happens, it's usually something I get to figure out on my own ).
The main reason I asked is because as a Buyer, over time, I have developed my own little Ebay "habits" (like most of us imagine).
The last few times when I've purchased something on Ebay (or Jackpot), I realized I have taken one of my little habits so far, it almost seemed compulsive. The awareness of that both amused and annoyed me.
See... I HATE buying ONE chip at a time. (and I'm talking low-end, common and current issues of course,) I guess it is because I am CHEAP too. And it is rarely the cost of the chip that annoys me, it is the cost of shipping.
So I had gotten in the habit of looking at the Sellers other auctions to see if there was another chip I needed and I realized recently that that little "quirk" and evolved from "prefering" a multi-chip purchase to almost "expecting" a multi-chip purpose - which means even when I see a chip I want, if they don't have a second chip I want, I won't bid at all if shipping is $2+. (Paul Sax would be proud! )
The problem with this is I am at a point in my collection it is arrogant and presumptuous for me to assume that while a Seller is listing chips, they'll be thinking, "Oppps... Jill needs this one - so I had better put one of these on too." (but I wish they would!! )
And of course, I ask because I also sell on and although I TRY to keep my auctions collector-friendly, (like with low opening bids and $1 shipping), I usually list chips in small multiple chip lots - because that's what appeals to ME. But of course, I won't be the one bidding on them so "if ya wanna know what the People think, ask the People".
That's why I call this pyschology...
There are a lot fo threads on this Board about what people dislike on - but not enough about what people like - or WHY they like it.
See - I am ALWAYS intrigued by "what motivates others"...
This "old dog learns new tricks" ALL the time - and most often - through the insight of others.
