"As for Cheney, the primary thing that I was trying to point out is that he was more than willing to do business with Saddam when he ran Haliburton."
...oil sales for humanitarian reasons were a part of the cease-fire agreement with the current but soon to be deposed tyrant in Iraq. To cut off his ability to get the oil out of the ground by the company that manufactures much of this equipment would have been viewed as a violation of the cease-fire agreement in many corners of the international community. Haliburton makes the pieces parts. Cut that supply off and you'd have a genuine beef about agreed to sanctions placed on Saddam.
"And he wanted the sanctions lifted. So apparently, he had no qualms about dealing with a mass murderer. Business was more important than moral outrage."
A lot of people did. The French, Germans and Russians come to mind, and their sales to Iraq during the sanctions included a hell of a lot more than equipment to get oil out of the ground.
"ANd now we're supposed to believe that our goals in ousting Saddam are motivated by moral outrage."
Yes and no. The man has shown that he will use WMD's. That's the key point. He's also already shown that weapons that he "didn't have" according to supposed compliance with the cease-fire agreement are not only in his arsenal, he's using them.
Please do send me the info on your party. ...and please do try to make it to the LVC Saturday night. Sue might have a need for speed, but I don't think that she'd want to tie in with a fuel digger pilot. They don't let their girlfriends or wives drive 300 mph. ...usually...!
