... that David Whalen has actually reapplied for membership and been denied, he cannot "confirm" your original statement, Charles (which was "who has been not allowed to rejoin" -- past tense).
You have now changed your statement to "being denied future membership" -- future tense.
BTW, I found the statement by Nate that I had recalled. It is in the President's Letter in the Spring 2002 issue of CC&TN. In that article, Nate said:
"The producer of the counterfeit chips identified has not renewed his club membership. The Membership Officer has been instructed that any future membership renewal or application from this individual is to be immediately rejected."
However, as I said, no complaint was ever filed against David. I submitted no report against him while I was claims director. To the best of my knowledge, no vote was ever taken to prohibit his renewal or reapplication. Certainly no such vote has ever been publically announced. Under those circumstances, there would be no justification for summarily denying his reapplication.
Nate may have directed that any such application be "immediately rejected", but if he did so without a vote of the board based upon a violation of the Code of Ethics, he did so without any authority or justification under the club's rules.
Under those circumstances, if David chooses to reapply for membership -- and if that application is "immediately rejected" -- there will be hell to pay.
