...is something everyone should do at least once! The adrenaline rush is incredible! I've jumped three times, all three out of a hot air balloon. The first two were 110' free falls. The third, I had them attach a pair of cords together and did a 220' free fall.
The thing about that Whiskas commercial that could hold true to life (the mouse hits the floor when the cat moves the bowl) is, bungee cords are really nothing more than sophisticated large rubber bands. Given their length, on the first stretching of the cords when you take a flying leap the cords don't have enough time to contract back to their original length before they are being stretched again when you head back toward the ground the second time after bouncing back into the air. You stretch the cords even more on the second voyage downward (getting closer to the ground), and the recoil of the further stretched cords send you even higher skyward on the second bounce! I thought the second recoil was going to allow me to catch the bottom of the balloon basket on the 220' jump! For much of the trip back up, you experience weightlessness.
I have my 220' jump on video tape around here somewhere...
It was an incredible experience!
