Sounds like you got a lemon. 
It does happen sometimes no matter what you are buying. Cars or whatever. Your complaint of Dell is the first I have ever heard in not only this thread, but previous threads over past years & in person. I'm sorry to hear it happened to you. But, I think Dell is the greatest!
