First night I stayed at Casino 93 in Jackpot. Okay motel room for $33. I like to play at Cactus Pete’s, the most upscale seeming of the three full service casinos in Jackpot. Horsehu across the street is part of Cactus Pete’s but I wasn’t happy with my last stay at their hotel and didn’t feel either place is a good value. Atmosphere at Horshu is between C Pete’s and Casino 93, a low-key cowboy place. Good discount liquor store in Jacpot so I can stock up on Bacardi’s Gold and Irish cream whiskey. Have all the current Jackpot chips I need but I should have pocketed a very new $5 Horseshu I got. The cards weren’t going my way Sunday night so I decided to bet it and acquire chips I didn’t have later down the road. Only slot card in town is C Pete’s/Horseshu Plateau Club, identical card to my last, 2 years ago.
Up early with decent weather coming from a turbulent looking sky, down the road and left at Wells for breakfast at Peppermill in Wendover. Hadn’t been there since I started gaming and collecting. Not a slot card to be had as far as I found. Down a little after Peppermill, MontegoBay, and State Line Nugget. The Red Garter is pretty gritty, looking for local and trucker business I guess, the only BJ game going when I was there was conducted mainly in Spanish with me the only gringo at the table. Great (Grandé!) looking chip though! See ya Wendover, don’t imagine I’ll be planning a return for another 10 years.
Drove around Wells, having harvested enough 4-Ways the last couple of times there. A Historic Walk along one of the streets but no gaming clubs featured there. Found the El Rancho Hotel and took a pic of the large weatherbeaten sign. Sorry Pam, but I didn’t take a photo of the forlorn Chinatown casino and motel either, too ugly to use film on to my eye. Wished I’d noted the address of Pequop Hotel though, I’ll be back on that.
