That's using a flexible flight schedule. You don't know when you are flying on those days until after you buy the tickets. I've done that a couple times to save a few bucks, but only when I know that the days flown aren't dependent on arrival or departure times.
I have to be at the track at 8:00 AM in the morning of the 3rd, and I have to be available until at least 8:00 PM on the 6th. I needed to make sure that I will be there within those parameters. Ergo, I'm flying in late the 2nd, and flying out shortly after midnight on the morning of the 7th. To buy blind flight tickets, using the 2nd and 7th to make sure I would be there to do my work could result in my flying out of COS at a very early time Wednesday and flying home late on Monday. I have too much to do here at home to gamble on saving $24 and losing two work days at home in the process. I'd be better off doing the dance through Albuquerque!
