Are you asking abuot supporting Osama and the "freedom fighters" against the USSR? I'd say that was wrong. It seems there were quite a few instances where life under SOviet rule proved better than the alternative -- Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, etc. Of cours the U.S. was dedicated to brining down the Soviet Union because if communism were allowed to succeed even slightly, then American capitalists couldn't be as secure in their fortunes. So we opposed them, they fell, and worse reginmes took over many of their territories. We didn't care how oppressive thos eregimes are, because they didn't threaten the economic theory we subscribe to.
As for ousting the Taliban -- I think that was a good idea. That was an oppressive regime that was harboring people known to have committed crimes against the U.S.
