After some questions about the lens, i decided to go to the Tamron website...There on the home page was a statement that they were deeply saddened by the passing of their president: Bruce Landau.

I was just informed a short time ago by Bob Touts that Bruce Landau used to be at Tamron. But wasnt even thinking about that when i did a search for their website.
