You probably won't remove glue with toothpaste, Sheldon. I'd try isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) as that will disolve a few adhesives like rubber cement. Beyond that, it will probably take acetone, which will dissolve chips as well and is generally pretty hard to use without damage. If it's not too ugly, and the alcohol doesn't do the job, I'd live with it.
