PayPal Suffers Dollar-To-Pound Problems
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- EBay's payment service PayPal experienced a dollar to pound sterling conversion problem Thursday, which miscalculated the amount of customers' transactions and resulted in some being temporarily overcharged.
The problem with PayPal's currency exchange calculator started around 1:30 a.m. PST Thursday, and was fixed about five hours later. EBay is reimbursing all customers affected, eBay spokesman Kevin Pursglove said.
"For those individuals who were trading during that period of time and benefited, we will allow them to maintain that extra amount in their account," Pursglove said. "For any eBay user who was adversely affected, we will make the necessary changes."
PayPal and eBay merged in October.
