Bob, I can understand Abe's deciding not continue with his offer. Many people dont have a stock of reusable envelopes. If thats the case, and he buys a mailer for 50 cents, he loses.
I had a similar situation, where I was offering 4 different Indiana casino chips. Well the minumum order cost me .83 cents to mail and the majority cost me $1.06. I use brand new jiffy mailers. I had a ton of people that contacted me for the chips. Many of whom wanted 3 to five of each of the chips $5.00 and under from each of the 4 casinos. So if the postage exceeds $1.00....then it is up to the shipper to obsorb the cost of the envelope. If yoiu have extra used mailers..thats not a problem. But if you have to buy the mailers, then it would be an out of pocket expense for Abe. So, i really do understand. I agree with the great purpose of the chiplist. Its a wonderful thing. But it shouldnt cost the sender anything.
So maybe we should consider in situations were there are a number of chips being sent, that we make it: Total Face + postage + 50 cents.
Lets also remember that in a situation of a group of chips (like my 4 casinos) where people may want a total of 4 $1.00, 4 $2.50 and 4$5.00 chips (total of 12 chips) that the chips must be kept from hitting each other. For me, I cut up some of my plastic chip pages to use (at 70 cents a page).
Im not trying to be a bean counter..or be a cheapskate, but i can understand why Abe would decide not to pursue this. It really should have to cost him to offer this. Goodwill can get pricey and time consuming. Especially when 15-20 people are all wanting lots of chips.
Just thought I'd put my two cents in.
