I am not going to shoot everyone in order to make sure that I get the guilty party. As I said before, I would rather suffer the financial loss of having to keep the damaged chips then to falsely accuse someone who is innocent or even put anyone under the cloud of suspicion.
In my round robins, I ask each of participant, and they are very cooperative in doing so, to record which chips they took from and which chips they added to the round robin. So I know which participant put each chip in the round robin. What I cannot determine is if someone exchanged chips of poorer condition with chips already in the round robin. A possible solution is to ask each participant to police the round robin when they get it. They would have to inform me of any chips that are damaged or worn or don't meet any of the other qualifications. If they don't inform me, then they would become responsible for the chips. I could also ask that each participant send a scan of all of the chips to me.
It is very sad that it has come to this, but I think that round robins are a great idea and I would like them to continue. It just looks like it is going to mean more work for each pariticipant.
