"This is her refusing to be forced to do something."

...and in the process of doing so, she is forcing her teammates, opposing players, coaches, refs, families and friends of both teams and students from both schools to witness behavior that is highly offensive to many people.

That's what I'm talking about when I said it wasn't the proper place for her behavior.

I certainly wouldn't call her behavior courageous. Selfish is the word I'd use.
