I, like you, agree that time heals most problems and we should not get involved with other nations social or political problems.
But
We are at WAR. The terrorist declared war on the United States on Sept 11. They will continue to do every thing they possibly can to bring down the United States. Remember that Fram oil filter commercial “You can pay me now or pay me later.” Same applies here, if we don’t take them out now then we are going to pay a heavy price later.
If I remember correctly we already won the war with Iraq and they unconditionally surrendered. They are violating their surrender agreement and now further military action will be necessary. I do trust our government intelligence and they see Saddam as a definite threat to the U.S.
History certainly repeats itself. The world tried to appease Hitler and only 50 million people died as a result. How many will die this time if no action is taken? The only way we will ever know is not to use military force to stop terrorism. Personally I prefer to pay a small price now and avoid a more catastrophic price later.
Remember Al, I am on your side. If we take out Saddam and we set up a free society that will create more protestors that you can march with. Like the French.
