While I've never been disrespectful during the playing of the National Anthem or the Pledge of Allegiance, I personally opt never to recite the Pledge, at least not fully. I have no problem with pledging my allegiance to the Republic for which it stands. But I personally won't pledge my allegiance to a symbol. I also have problems with the "under God" part -- I believe in a God myself, but don't like the diea of public events beginning with a religious reference.

But as I said, I show respect, and recite the parts that I agree with.
