Bob- to me, any act of treason would stand on it's own, and the fact that it was done as a method of protest would not negate it. If I were to sel a foreign nation the plans to our defense systems, that would be treason. I certainly couldn't get out of it by claiming that was my way of protesting U.S. military action. But if you are talking about simple protest, then I have to say ABSOLUTELY NO! The American government is supposed to respond to public opiion, it is NOT the responsibility of the public to endorse government policy. SO as far as I'm concerned, any act of mere protest could never rise to the level of treason. On the contrary, I consider it every Americans patriotic duty to make his beliefs known to the powers that be, so that they are better able to serve their consituencies.
