... from February 22, 1992, eleven years ago today:

#1 son Doug & I headed to Reno, planning to try out our newly acquired strategies for playing Blackjack. We stayed at the Sundowner and, by the end of the weekend, had played at 10 different casinos.

This was the first time I had ever played cards in a casino -- and the first one we played at was Harrah's. I was immediately taken with the chips they gave us to play with -- $1 yellow brasscores -- and told Doug that I wanted to keep one. By the time we left Reno, I not only had the Harrah's $1, but 1 $2.50 and $5 as well, plus chips from each of the other casinos we played at.

The rest, as they say, is history!
