You're right, a camera is probably faster but,IMHO, a scanner does a much better job unless you have a tripod and some special auxiliary lighting to use with your digital camera. Flash is bad! The next question is what size file--BMP, JPG, etc. Depends upon the size of your hard drive but you can always burn them on a CD and free up disc space.
