That's not just an hand-off, passing the ball (decision) of the BOD to a volunteered/appointed position to rule separately from the BOD, it's a Hail Mary pass! ...and one that didn't need to be caught, thank goodness for you!
The Convention Chair changed during the time preceding the 2002 convention due to (RIP) George Conrad's untimely demise. You absolved the BOD of any responsibility they had concerning any slabbing company that had bought a table at a previous convention.
I hope George knew it, and I hope Jim knew it too. I also think that you are smart enough to have known that George or Jim wouldn't have had to make such a decision before putting either one of them in such a position to make such a decision.
