It's tough for a newcomer to check in here, not having known Mel or Bruce. But I believe that if expulsion from the club is to mean anything, then expulsion form the magazine should be part of it. Sounds to me like this is sort of like Pete Rose and baseball -- Mel is so attached to the hobby and loved by so many involved, that there will always be reasons to justify bringing him back into the family. Maybe someone should have weighed that factor before they expelled him. Because judgung by the love being expressed for him on this board, I can guarantee that there will be MANY future instances in which he is invited back into club affairs, as "an exception."

If his "crime" was bad enough to kick him out -- keep him out. If not, take another vote and let him in.
