"Civility", on the other hand, is a more slippery concept. I am not a big fan of foul language, but I see nothing wrong with plain speaking the truth. "Making nice" for the sake of "making nice" is neither necessary nor particularly useful.
If it is appropriate to comment on controversial club/hobby matters here and/or on the club board, it is also appropriate to do so forthrightly. If speaking the truth on such matters is going to hurt someone's feelings or publically launder some dirty club linen, so be it. And if that strikes some as "uncivil" well, frankly, too bad.
People have varying levels of tolerance for confrontation and the unvarnished truth. Those with a low tolerance should consider skipping over posts by those known to have a high tolerance.
