Here are two other Hawthorne, Nevada matchcovers from the collection I'm breaking up. One is a bicentennial cover from 1976. We generally think front strikers went out about 1972 but this one was made several years later.

The other cover from Joes advertising 'daily air service' is also an interesting design. Notice the phone number. Joes was open from 1943-45 according to The Gaming Table. Does that look like a 40's airplane? A bit of artistic licence from the designer, I guess.
