It's extremely difficult to rank pitchers and position players in a single list together. How do you fairly compare them when their roles are so different?
Of course, it is also difficult to compare players from different eras. All very subjective!
BTW, I think current players get less consideration than they may ultimately deserve because we do not yet have the full perspective of their career performance. And, I think we all tend to romantacize (and therefore perhaps overvalue) the players who were stars when we first became baseball fans.
