Byron, when the Speakeasy in Reno was open, I always would pick up extra chips because I always thought it could go out of business before the next time I was in town. And one time, I was right.
Some casinos, like the Speakeasy and Pioneer Inn in Reno, announced their closing dates well ahead of time and it wasn't difficult to pick up chips before they shut their doors. Others, like the Riverboat, closed without any advance notice. The Comstock had a target date, then closed well in advance of it.
I figure it never hurts to have a few extras from a place that isn't around any longer. They always make good traders, especially for those new to the hobby.
