Re: Problem with Borland Chips-Pete

He had to have the HS dies, in order to make his fakes. Where did they go? Whoever got those could list them and we would at least have a record of casino stamps that he could have made fakes from. Any HS die Borland had would be suspect any he didn't have, would be more likely to be real. Nothing absolute, but a starting point.

Loved the blanks Robert, it just shows how large the problem could be for color variations.

I agree with Don and Pam that these fakes are collectible, to some people.

The TCR position is a basic fact of life, and protects new collectors from buying a fake, of unknown origin and production, before they get involved in collecting. After that, they can make their own decision on these chips. By NOT listing one that is unknown, as more valuable, it is the appropriate consistant way of dealing with all fakes, so the user is informed.

TOG has their price on the particular chip that started this discussion, based on sales and market, so they have a different approach to reach what they believe is a valid conclusion.

Both are supported by guide position and available information. Both take different approaches to valuing this type of chip.

I personally prefer the TCR view that all fakes are "A" chips and let the more advanced collectors base their values on personal experience and in depth knowledge.
