On the way to Vegas from S.D. if you come on I 15 stay over at Primm (Nee Stateline) as there is a super roller coaster and other rides at Buffalo Bills and it is cheap--three casinos; golf courses and full casinos for the so-called adults. At Vegas for kids I would think about Excaliber which is usually clean and has kid things including a big buffet and a fun supper with jousting at night; NYNY has a fun roller coaster; Circus Circus has an indoor amusement park but it is on the other end (north) of the strip. Be sure and take in the free stuff--Treasure Island Pirate show and the Mirage and Bellagio events (fire and water). Harrahs has a fun outdoor (in a tent) rock and concerts but there may be age restrictions--they haven't carded me in a long time but since I am 69 I no longer pass for a youngster. The Wet & Wild water park down near the Saraha is super fun and I try to "rent" a cousin's kid to chaperone me--some of the best water rides of any park in the country--featured on Travel. Then there are some fun things for families to do including Valley of the Fire State Park north and along the Colorado; and the Boulder Dam is incredible if you haven't seen it; there are house boats and other water acitivities at Lake Mead. West on Charleston or Rte 159 takes you a few miles to a magnificent red rock state park; Mt. Charleston is worth the 25 miles or so off US 95. There is a Las Vegas for kids book in our B&N library with tons of things to do. Many museums though that usually doesn't thrill kids. Come during the CC>CC bash and I'll let your kids chaperone me to Wet & Wild or on the NYNY roller coaster since my friend won't ride it with me; she says she only has one life to give to her country and riding that thing isn't going to be it.
