I just received an offer from Excaliber today for $39 rooms (weekdays). Almost any property on the strip is safe and decent. I would avoid Westward Ho, Sahara, Stratsophere, Riveria and Imperial Palace. For kids Circus Circus is great - but there are quite a few kids. The price is always right and the rooms are very nice. If you want upscale at a reasonable price I would try Monte Carlo or Luxor. At most web sites you can sign up to be put on an email list where they will send you special offers when they need to fill rooms. If you don't have any luck there I would check out San Remo next to the Trop. Another nice, small place. Keep in mind that even if you get a good rate at one of the best places (Bellagio, Caersars, Venetian, etc) you still have to eat and the restaurants at those properties can be very expensive. You can get great deals at many restaurants by using the free flyers available everywhere. Enjoy.
