"do all of the chips listed in Ed Hertel's book have mold records."
No.
Many of the old records are lost to history.
Herz has verification that the Small & Large Key records were thrown in a dump. Two weeks prior to him finding the heirs to BC Wills. This would have been the biggest find outside of the Hubs.
Mark and I have verfication that the Hour Glass and Lazy Diamond records have been destroyed.
I and a dozen others have been on the trail of the Arodie records for years. Still hoping.
I believe the Christy Jones H&C and Jack Todd Diamond could exist. In fact I got new hope again last week.
Many of the IDs in Eds book and TGT are attributed to hard work and research by many chippers. Walter Threadgill has a new Arkansas illegal book out. It is advertised down the thread. I know he has put years into research.
I have a KY book by Larry Trapp that took years to put together. Only about 5 or 6 copies made.
That said, unfortunetly some IDs are attributed by greedy people looking to sell chips. Does that mean some attributations in our books are wrong? Yes. Some of us try to fix them when we can. Time is our enemy. More old timers are dying every day. If your not sure ask on this BB. There are several hard core illegalists here.
