I just took up Greatdeals suggestion and bid on his auction. It did just as ebay does. If your bid is above the reserve it will show you bid at the reseve and reserve met. Greg and I have sent several emails back and forth on this and I was convinced also that someone had to force your bid up to the reserve, but that is not true.

I am now convinced where the problem really lies is with a bid that doesn't met reserve it will show only the minimum bid to be the highest bidder. Let me try to explain that. If the start bid is .01 and the reserve is $1.50 and you bid $1.00. It will show a bid of .01 and reserve not met instead of a bid of $1.00 and reserve not met. It doesn't consider the reserve in the bidding just whether it is met or not.
I don't agree with this method as it just waste time trying to figure out your lowest bid verses the proxy bid of others and the reserve. In other words you are bidding against two unknowns now.
