Can someone explain to all of the members who have joined in the last 12 months (like myself) how we go about putting forth nominations for Chip Of The Year?
My first choice is the Hard Rock's $100 Who chip. So beautiful I'm sad I sold my only one. Runners up in my opinion appear below (with my scan of each):
1) New $1 Luxor - Simple yet complex, I love the way the colors and images play off each other
2) $4 Bingo Ellie - I think gene did a great job with this series. Each Ellie had a different hat. They were all cute. $4 Ellie was the first $4 in my collection. I love her.
3) $5 Ozzy - Gene's artwork here was BRILLIANT. It played well off every color (RED, GREEN, BLACK). It loses points for the fact that it's the same artwork for every denomination, and that cheapens the issue. Nonetheless -- one of the best issues of the year.
4) $5 Trump Year of the Horse -- Just look at it. East meets west in the fonts. In the colors, the green plays into yellows and browns. Even the lettering in the house mold seems to blend into the asian lettering and brush-stroke artwork in some weird way. Beautifully designed.
5) $5 Moby HR -- This really needs to be seen on both sides. They interplayed Moby's "spaceman" theme with the Hard Rock logo perfectly. The reversed "$5" even had people on The Chip Board asking if it was an error. Well integrated.
Just my thoughts. And once again, I love the $100 Who chip. Now can someone tell me how to nominate?
