Here's a chance to add to your collection one of the nicest and most difficult to acquire No Cash Value chips currently in any casino's cage.
The Tropicana in Atlantic City opened its Poker Room on July 4th, 1996. Since then, the Trop has become the Atlantic City leader in holding regular poker tournaments.
When these were first held, the Trop began using a set of four No Cash Value chips, featuring the Poker Club Logo, the King of Clubs. The colors used were Green, Blue, Tan, and Gold.
More recently, it was revealed that a fifth color, a Maroon chip, was also issued. This chip has never been, and will never be, used in any Trop tournaments. Trop personnel give varied reasons for this. The correct explanation seems to be that the color of this chip is too close to the color of the Trop's $5 regular rack chip.
At this time, this chip can only be acquired one way. If a player gets a Royal Flush while playing live poker at the Trop, they are given one spin on the Trop's "Wheel of Fortune." One of the prizes on the wheel is this Maroon Tourney chip. There is one drawback though. That chip is encased in Lucite...to be used as a chip marker.
Here's you chance to add this very hard-to-find chip to your collection -- not encased in Lucite !! The chips available are uncirculated. They are priced at $23 + $1.50 P&H, $24.50 total.
If you'd like the Green Trop Poker Tourney also, the total for both is $45, P&H included.
